Best Items to Counter Haze

Buy for the threat you are facing. These are situational options, not a build to purchase in full. Tap an item for its breakdown.

Matchup Overview & Game Plan

Separate the Sleep Dagger setup from sustained gun damage and Bullet Dance. A teammate's parry can protect a sleeping ally, while weapon defense buys a survival window against gun pressure. Break line of sight and stop the trade long enough for Fixation pressure to fall off rather than racing her with high stacks.

Indomitable can answer a sudden qualifying control event; Plated Armor helps slow weapon on-hit buildup; Metal Skin provides a temporary bullet-immunity window. Existing stacks and an enemy Cursed Relic still need their own response.

Laning Phase

  • Break line of sight after several hits and wait for Fixation pressure to wear off before another long trade.
  • Stay near your lane partner so a teammate can parry the melee follow-up on a sleeping ally.
  • Rusted Barrel can slow early gun pressure; Plated Armor helps reduce on-hit buildup in longer trades.
  • Use Metal Skin for a decisive bullet-damage window, then account for existing stacks and the position you will occupy when it ends.

Most Common Problems vs Haze

Identify what is losing the exchange, then use the answer and timing below.

Haze Sleep Dagger into burst keeps killing you from stealth

Indomitable

What to do: Use Indomitable as the passive combo breaker.

Why it helps: Haze can start the sequence unexpectedly, so an automatic answer is more reliable than a reaction-only defensive item.

Haze Fixation stacks and gun damage are snowballing

Plated Armor

What to do: Build Plated Armor for the extended weapon trade.

Why it helps: Reducing her ability to build weapon pressure over time is more reliable than only blocking a short five-second window.

Her ultimate is shredding your team

Metal Skin

What to do: Activate Metal Skin during the ultimate or interrupt her with Knockdown before Unstoppable.

Why it helps: Bullet immunity directly denies the main damage source while the ultimate is active.

Haze Fixation stacks are already built up and you need to reset them

Dispel Magic

What to do: Use Dispel Magic when the accumulated build-up/debuff pressure is the problem.

Why it helps: Metal Skin can stop bullet damage temporarily but does not stop build-up; clearing the existing stacks prevents the next burst from starting at full pressure.

You need a team weapon stop while Haze is committing damage

Disarming Hex

What to do: Have a teammate use Disarming Hex during the committed weapon window; use Metal Skin when your own immediate survival is the priority.

Why it helps: A team disarm and personal bullet immunity serve different roles, and the buyer needs a safe opportunity to apply the answer.

Gameplay Counterplay

  • Play near teammates so a sleep-daggered ally can be protected by a parry before Haze connects her melee follow-up.
  • If Fixation stacks are high, stop trading for a moment and let them fall off instead of feeding the ramping damage.
  • Breaking line of sight is often more valuable than trying to race her damage once the stack count is already high.

Mistakes to Avoid Against Haze

Trying to win the damage race at high Fixation stacks

Stop the exchange and use cover. The purpose is to let the stacked pressure decay before you take another sustained trade.

Spending your short defensive window without moving

Metal Skin is a temporary answer to the ultimate threat. Use that time to reach cover or a safer position instead of standing through the same attack.
