How to play Haze

The full version of the quick answer.

Your goal

Build enough income to deal useful gun damage, then attack an exposed enemy while teammates occupy their attention. You want time to keep hitting a target rather than being everyone’s first target.

Positioning

Play beside or behind your team before taking a side angle into a fight. Use cover and Smoke Bomb to approach without crossing open enemy gunfire. Keep an escape route in mind: invisibility is not a reliable rescue once enemies are close and already tracking you.

How to fight

  1. Fixation rewards repeated hits on the same enemy. Choose a target you can safely keep shooting instead of scattering a few bullets across everyone. Sleep Dagger gives you time to improve your position before firing; do not rush to wake the target from a poor angle.
  2. Look for an enemy separated from protection, or enter after allies draw attention. Bullet Dance can punish a useful commitment, but check enemy control and defensive tools first. You can still contribute through ordinary shooting instead of waiting for a perfect ultimate opportunity.

When an enemy threatens you

Move back through cover towards allies and use Sleep Dagger if it creates a retreat opportunity. Do not assume Smoke Bomb immediately makes you safe: nearby enemies can see and continue tracking you.

Haze game plan

Timings are approximate. When teams start grouping and pushing objectives, use the next phase’s advice.

Early game

~0–10 min

Prioritise trooper souls and safe shooting. Build Fixation on one target during a useful exchange instead of scattering damage across everyone.

Mid game

~10–25 min

Collect waves and nearby camps, then join useful nearby fights. Use Smoke Bomb for a side approach without assuming it hides you at close range.

Late game

~25+ min

Let teammates draw attention before committing sustained fire or Bullet Dance. Check enemy control and defensive tools before entering a group.

Tips

Good to know

  • Sleep Dagger doesn't break invisibility, so cast it while still hidden for a guaranteed setup.
  • Headshots stack Fixation three times faster — aim high to ramp damage quickly.
  • Bullet Dance fires with perfect accuracy, so use it while jumping to dodge return fire.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Being seen at close range despite Smoke Bomb.
  • Starting first into enemy control or splitting shots without building useful pressure.

If you’re struggling

Collect safe income and join nearby fights after allies draw attention; avoid gambling on solo kills.

One useful tip

Invisibility does not make you untouchable. Do not enter first and expect Smoke Bomb to rescue you.
