How to play Mirage

The full version of the quick answer.

Your goal

Build damage through repeated shots while keeping the option to reinforce another useful fight. Your map presence is valuable when you arrive safely and change the numbers, not whenever someone starts fighting.

Positioning

Use cover in a position where you can repeatedly shoot a reachable target. Stay near enough to teammates to avoid being isolated if you spend Dust Devil. Before Traveler, inspect the destination and the positions enemies could reach by the time you arrive.

How to fight

  1. Djinn’s Mark rewards maintaining pressure on a target rather than occasional random shots. Fire Scarabs helps prepare an exchange, and Dust Devil can disrupt an enemy or defend your position. Do not spend every tool aggressively before you know where the next threat will come from.
  2. Between fights, keep collecting waves and watch the map. Traveler can turn a small fight into a numbers advantage or help defend an objective, but joining a fight already lost may simply add another death. Arrive near allied protection rather than aiming for the centre of the enemy group.

When an enemy threatens you

Use your defensive movement and nearby cover to return to allies. Do not assume you can start a long-distance departure safely while enemies are already able to keep attacking you.

Mirage game plan

Timings are approximate. When teams start grouping and pushing objectives, use the next phase’s advice.

Early game

~0–10 min

Collect souls and build marks through safe repeated shots. Preserve Dust Devil when the enemy can force a close exchange.

Mid game

~10–25 min

Watch for a Traveler arrival that creates a useful numbers advantage. Collect your wave first when a distant fight is already lost.

Late game

~25+ min

Arrive near allied cover, then maintain damage on a reachable target. Avoid committing every defensive option just to join the centre of a fight.

Tips

Good to know

  • Each Djinn's Mark doubles the total damage — four marks hit far harder than the sum of two.
  • Dust Devil makes you invincible during the cast, so use it to dodge incoming ultimates.
  • Any damage interrupts Traveler's channel, so cast it from fog of war or behind cover.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Arriving at an unsafe Traveler destination.
  • Taking sudden damage before your repeated shots can matter.

If you’re struggling

Use safe farm and selective reinforcements rather than teleporting into every losing fight.

One useful tip

A global response is optional: staying to collect a wave can be better than joining a lost fight.

HazeThreat · Lane
Watch for

Long open shooting exchanges also build her focused-target damage.

Do this

Use cover and your defensive option deliberately; do not assume maintaining marks means you must stand still and trade everything.

Mo & KrillThreat · Teamfights
Watch for

Arriving near a ready close hold can turn Traveler into an unsafe commitment.

Do this

Inspect the arrival point and choose allied cover instead of teleporting into the centre of their protection.

McGinnisOpportunity · Mid-game skirmishes
Watch for

A teammate pressured by her setup may benefit from a selective reinforcement.

Do this

Arrive only where you and the ally can fight together safely; avoid teleporting beyond a wall into an isolated position.
