“Top” counts everyone at or above your exact subrank, including players in it. “Higher than” counts only players strictly below it. Players who share your subrank are in both, so the two need not add up to 100%. Both come from unique-player counts for Current Season (Beta Season 1), rounded only for display.
Deadlock’s Ranked Mode places players into competitive matches against opponents of similar skill. Winning and losing changes your Rank Points, allowing you to move through divisions and climb the ranked ladder.

Every competitive rank contains six divisions, numbered I through VI. Division I is the lowest within a rank, while Division VI is the highest. After progressing beyond Division VI, players can advance to the next rank.

Rank Points, or RP, determine your progress through the ranked ladder. As of October 2026, a typical ranked win or loss changes your RP by approximately 300 points, although the exact amount can vary depending on the matchmaker’s expectations and win streaks. Most subrank promotions require 1,000 RP. Moving from Division VI into the next full rank requires 2,000 RP. Eternus uses a different system: its subrank thresholds adjust dynamically based on player percentiles.

Deadlock includes loss protection at rank boundaries. Players receive protection against immediate demotion when reaching the bottom of a division or full rank. At a subrank boundary, protection lasts for 2 games. At a full-rank boundary, it lasts for 5 games.

Before receiving a competitive rank, players complete 8 calibration matches. These placements must be played solo. Obscurus is displayed while the player is uncalibrated. After calibration, a competitive rank is assigned. The highest possible initial placement is Oracle VI.
To unlock Ranked Mode in Deadlock, players must first gain experience in Standard Mode and qualify with enough familiar heroes.
Newly released heroes are temporarily exempt from the per-hero win requirement, but they do not count toward the 3 eligible heroes.
Ranked Mode supports solo and duo queues. For duos, players must generally be within one full rank of each other. Eternus players can only queue with another Eternus player within 3 subranks. Calibration matches must be completed solo.
Yes. Deadlock offers a dedicated Ranked Mode alongside Standard Mode. Standard Mode is unranked, while Ranked Mode allows players to earn Rank Points and climb the competitive ladder.
