How We Read a Patch

Each reviewed update groups heroes and items into Buffed, Nerfed and Tweaked. Tweaked means mixed or reworked changes where the overall direction isn’t clear-cut. Every change row shows the exact change and a short note on why it matters. Build and counterplay impact use pre-patch purchase data and our counter recommendations to show possible effects, never confirmed changes in hero strength. Updates we haven’t reviewed yet list the official changes without labels.

Where can I read official Deadlock patch notes?

Valve posts updates on Steam and in the Deadlock developer forum changelog. We summarize each update here and links to both official sources.

What’s the difference between a buff, nerf and adjustment?

A buff improves part of a hero or item, a nerf weakens it, and a tweak (adjustment) mixes positive and negative changes or reworks how something works.

Can an item change affect a hero who wasn’t patched?

Yes. Items a hero buys often, and counter items enemies buy against them, can change even when the hero itself didn’t. We show these as possible effects, not confirmed changes in strength.
