What is Deadlock Item Builder?
Deadlock Item Builder is a free community site for counter items, hero matchups, roles and team compositions. It also includes tools for creating custom item and hero ability concepts.
How do I find counter items for an enemy team?
Open the Counter Item Helper and select up to six enemy heroes. Compare shared item recommendations, choose an early, mid or late game stage, and prioritize the opponent causing the biggest problem. Select one hero for detailed matchup advice.
Where can I find advice for a specific hero matchup?
The hero counter guides cover recommended items, laning advice, common matchup problems and a fight plan. Use them when you need more context than a quick item recommendation.
Can I learn which role suits my hero?
Yes. The roles and playstyles hub includes a searchable hero chart and guides for carry, spirit carry, frontline, pick and support. Heroes can fit more than one role depending on their build and how you play them.
What is the difference between the item helper and the Counter Item Library?
The helper starts with your opponents and suggests items to consider. The Counter Item Library starts with an item and explains what it answers, when it is useful and which hero matchups recommend it.
Are the tools free, and do I need an account?
The tools and guides are free to use, with no account required. You can select opponents, read guides, create cards and download your concepts directly from the site.
Can I create and share custom items and abilities?
Yes. Use the Item Builder for custom Weapon, Vitality and Spirit item cards, or the Hero Ability Maker for ability concepts. Edit the details and export a card to share. These are fan concepts; they do not add items or abilities to the game.
Is Deadlock Item Builder affiliated with Valve?
No. This is an independent fan project for the Deadlock community. It is not affiliated with Valve, and Deadlock assets belong to Valve.
