How to play Rem

The full version of the quick answer.

Your goal

Keep a useful teammate active while disrupting enemies who try to reach them. Use your helpers between fights so contributing is more than staying attached to one ally for the entire match.

Positioning

Stay close to an ally who can protect you, usually behind or beside the first person taking contact. Keep a view of approaching enemies so you can respond before they are already on top of you. Avoid travelling alone into routes the enemy team controls.

How to fight

  1. Pillow Toss can push back a dangerous approach and create space for an ally to keep shooting or leave. Use Tag Along when a teammate needs recovery, and consider moving support to another ally when the situation changes rather than following the same person regardless of the fight.
  2. Send Lil Helpers to collect safe boxes between fights while staying near your team. For Naptime, tell teammates before the sleep opening so they can prepare their damage. Do not assume its control will remain undisturbed while everyone attacks independently; coordinated timing gets more value from the opportunity.

When an enemy threatens you

Move towards an ally and use knockback to make pursuit harder. If you cannot safely reach your intended partner, stay near another teammate rather than crossing exposed ground to attach to one particular player.

Rem game plan

Timings are approximate. When teams start grouping and pushing objectives, use the next phase’s advice.

Early game

~0–10 min

Collect souls and support your lane partner. Use Pillow Toss to stop a serious approach rather than exposing yourself for small damage.

Mid game

~10–25 min

Send helpers on safe tasks while travelling near allies. Use Tag Along to help recovery, changing support as the team’s needs change.

Late game

~25+ min

Coordinate Naptime before the damage begins, and protect a useful teammate. Avoid remaining passive on one ally while the important fight moves elsewhere.

Tips

Good to know

  • While napping, your self-casts target your ally instead — items and abilities redirect to them.
  • Helpers assigned to Sinner's Sacrifice always secure the full jackpot as if you'd heavy-meleed it, unless a player interrupts them.
  • Naptime's cooldown is halved if the channel gets interrupted — don't be afraid to throw it.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Being caught away from an ally who can protect you.
  • Preparing sleep without coordinating the team’s damage.

If you’re struggling

Keep a useful ally active and use helpers safely; avoid wandering alone for extra damage.

One useful tip

Coordinate Naptime with your team’s attack rather than assuming sleeping enemies will stay asleep under damage.

Matchups to watch

Heroes that change how you play Rem. Situational adjustments, not rankings.

AbramsThreat · Lane
Watch for

A close wall catch can separate you from protective teammates.

Do this

Stay near an ally and keep Pillow Toss for a serious approach instead of spending it on minor damage.

HollidayThreat · Teamfights
Watch for

Her catch can move the ally you rely on into an unsafe position.

Do this

Track the approach and stay near additional allied help; do not assume one partner remains a safe place throughout the fight.

HazeOpportunity · Teamfights
Watch for

A teammate under focused shooting needs timely recovery and space.

Do this

Help the attacked ally and use knockback when useful, rather than remaining with an uninvolved partner far from the threat.
