Best Items to Counter Seven

Buy for the threat you are facing. These are situational options, not a build to purchase in full. Tap an item for its breakdown.

Matchup Overview & Game Plan

Use cover after Static Charge so the follow-up cannot turn the control into a free damage sequence. Against Storm Cloud, break line of sight or interrupt an exposed channel before it gains protection. Check whether his gun build is the main threat before assuming every purchase should answer the ultimate.

Dispel Magic removes the delayed stun setup before it lands, Knockdown can cancel the ultimate, and Disarming Hex punishes gun-focused builds.

Laning Phase

  • Move toward cover after Static Charge is applied so the follow-up has a worse angle.
  • Use Dispel Magic before the delayed stun lands; it cannot be activated while already stunned.
  • Break line of sight as Storm Cloud begins instead of extending a greedy trade.
  • Interrupt the exposed ultimate channel while it is vulnerable; enemy Unstoppable can change that opportunity.

Most Common Problems vs Seven

Identify what is losing the exchange, then use the answer and timing below.

Static Charge is stunning you for free follow-up

Dispel Magic

What to do: Use Dispel Magic during the delayed Static Charge setup, before the stun resolves.

Why it helps: Removing the pending debuff prevents the catch; Dispel Magic cannot be activated while you are already stunned, so timing it before the control matters.

Seven Storm Cloud is wiping your team

Knockdown

What to do: Knockdown Seven during the channel before he protects it with Unstoppable.

Why it helps: The stun interrupts the ultimate and forces him to spend additional resources to channel safely.

His gun build is carrying after the ability setup

Disarming Hex

What to do: Disarm him during the damage window.

Why it helps: A gun-oriented Seven loses a large portion of his sustained damage while he cannot fire.

Seven spirit damage is chunking you even when Static Charge is not the issue

Spirit Resilience

What to do: Build Spirit Resilience when Lightning Ball and other spirit damage are the real threat.

Why it helps: Dispel Magic answers Static Charge, but dedicated spirit resistance is the better purchase when you are simply losing too much health to repeated spell damage.

Gameplay Counterplay

  • If Static Charge is on you, immediately move behind cover; the stun is dangerous mainly because it enables the follow-up damage.
  • Break line of sight quickly when Storm Cloud begins instead of trying to finish a low-value trade inside the ultimate.
  • Force him to cast from a bad angle where your team can still reach him with an interrupt.

Mistakes to Avoid Against Seven

Staying exposed through the Static Charge follow-up

The stun is only part of the danger. Move toward cover so the next damage sequence has a worse angle.

Trying to interrupt a channel already protected by Unstoppable

Knockdown is listed for the vulnerable channel. Once it is protected, use the line-of-sight advice rather than repeating the same failed response.

Threat / Fight Plan

Spirit Defense

Mitigates ability-based burst and spirit damage.

Useful answers: Spirit Resilience

Anti-CC & Combo Breaking

Limits control-led combos through immunity, a qualifying automatic response, shorter debuffs, or a barrier after the catch.

Useful answers: Unstoppable

Interrupt & Cast Denial

Interrupts vulnerable channels or denies an important cast before it starts. Silence alone is not a universal channel interrupt.
