How to play The Doorman

The full version of the quick answer.

Your goal

Help your team reach useful fights, move enemies out of safe positions, and create a temporary numbers advantage. Think about where everyone will end up, not only whether you can land a catch.

Positioning

Play close enough to help a teammate without standing alone in front of the enemy team. Place Doorway exits in positions your team can safely use. Before taking a route yourself, check the other end and whether nearby allies can follow you.

How to fight

  1. Use Call Bell when your teammate is ready for a shooting exchange. Luggage Cart can move an enemy towards allied damage or disrupt an approach. Check the direction first: moving someone out of your team’s shots can waste the opening you created.
  2. Use Doorway before a rotation is urgent, and tell teammates where it leads. Hotel Guest temporarily removes an enemy from the current fight; use that time to help your team attack whoever remains instead of simply waiting for the removed target to return.

When an enemy threatens you

Move towards a prepared safe route or nearby allies. Avoid attempting another close catch while already surrounded; a clever door placement does not guarantee its exit is still safe.

The Doorman game plan

Timings are approximate. When teams start grouping and pushing objectives, use the next phase’s advice.

Early game

~0–10 min

Collect souls and help your partner’s shooting exchanges with Call Bell. Practise placing usable doors outside combat before relying on them to escape.

Mid game

~10–25 min

Prepare routes to the next objective and communicate the destination. Use a catch when nearby allies can exploit where the enemy lands.

Late game

~25+ min

Remove an important enemy temporarily and help attack the remaining team. Keep thinking about the returning target and whether your exits are still safe.

Tips

Good to know

  • Bells can be shot or melee-detonated early; ring them behind cover.
  • Unstoppable effects drop cart targets — check before you drag.
  • At T3, doorways connect spawn to guardians for instant defense.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Placing a route without checking both exits.
  • Being caught alone while trying to move an enemy.

If you’re struggling

Create safe routes and disrupt nearby enemies rather than walking alone into a close catch.

One useful tip

Hotel Guest removes a target temporarily. Help your team use that time instead of waiting for the target to return.

HazeOpportunity · Teamfights
Watch for

A sustained shooter benefits from remaining in the current fight.

Do this

Consider Hotel Guest when removing her creates an immediate advantage, then help teammates attack the remaining enemies.

AbramsThreat · Lane
Watch for

An unsupported close catch gives him the range he wants.

Do this

Use Call Bell and gunfire beside your partner; choose a cart direction that does not strand you next to him.

LashThreat · Teamfights
Watch for

An approach from height can bypass the route you are watching.

Do this

Check above and beside the fight, and keep a safe door route rather than assuming one front-facing setup covers everything.
