How to play Drifter

The full version of the quick answer.

Your goal

Find an enemy too far from teammates to get help, then use your isolation damage to win the close fight. Keep checking for backup rather than assuming a target remains alone.

Positioning

Move through covered side routes and approach within manageable range before relying on Stalker’s Mark. Stay aware of your own route back. Being behind an enemy is useful only if you can finish or leave before the rest of their team arrives.

How to fight

  1. Bloodscent helps identify isolated targets and rewards fighting them. Look for lone farmers or late arrivals, but check the map before committing. Stalker’s Mark is easier to connect when you are already close or the enemy has spent movement trying to escape.
  2. Use the mark’s reactivation to maintain contact, then Rend and shoot at close range. If an ally arrives to protect your target, reassess instead of continuing the same duel. Around teamfights, wait at an edge for separation rather than charging through the full enemy group.

When an enemy threatens you

Return towards cover and allies instead of teleporting farther into danger. If you are behind in souls, help finish an already weakened enemy rather than betting on a full-health isolated duel.

Drifter game plan

Timings are approximate. When teams start grouping and pushing objectives, use the next phase’s advice.

Early game

~0–10 min

Collect souls from cover and practise reliable close marks. Avoid taking free ranged damage just to walk up to a healthy enemy.

Mid game

~10–25 min

Look for isolated farmers or late arrivals while maintaining your own income. Recheck nearby enemy movement before taking the mark’s teleport.

Late game

~25+ min

Work around the edge while allies occupy the main group. Attack an enemy who separates, rather than starting inside everyone’s protection.

Tips

Good to know

  • The mark can tag the Rejuvenator, letting you teleport to it after an objective fight
  • Landing Rend within close range silences enemies with the right upgrade, cutting off their escape
  • Mark's bleed scales off current health, so opening on wounded targets melts them fastest

Avoid these mistakes

  • Teleporting onto a target whose teammates are now nearby.
  • Trying to force a full-health duel while behind in souls.

If you’re struggling

Collect safe souls and help finish an already weakened target instead of forcing a full-health duel.

One useful tip

Recheck the map before teleporting: a previously lone target may now have teammates nearby.

Grey TalonOpportunity · Mid-game skirmishes
Watch for

A lone ranged farmer may have limited nearby help.

Do this

Approach through cover after checking his team’s positions and trap route; do not teleport if protection has arrived.

Mo & KrillThreat · Teamfights
Watch for

Their close hold can stop a finishing attempt and protect your target.

Do this

Look for an isolated enemy elsewhere or wait until they commit before entering near them.

IvyThreat · Mid-game skirmishes
Watch for

Her defensive timing and nearby partner can spoil a quick solo finish.

Do this

Confirm isolation and avoid spending every tool before Stone Form or allied help has been accounted for.
