How to play Nurse Harrow

The full version of the quick answer.

Your goal

Keep the teammate doing the fighting alive, collect leeches to strengthen your sustain, and use fear to protect your team or push enemies out of a useful position.

Positioning

Play behind or beside your frontline, close enough to land healing shots and reach returning leeches. Use cover between heals and keep a retreat route.

How to fight

  1. Keep a clear healing angle on the teammate your team needs for the next fight or objective, and heal before they are already lost.
  2. Use Wretched Vapours for a planned commitment. Its damage is delayed, not erased: heal the affected ally to clear the stored spectres, then help them reach cover before the slower crash.
  3. Use Lurking Terrors when enemies must face you to fight, or to discourage a dive onto your backline. Enemies who look at you build terror and lose stamina and movement abilities; enemies who turn away take reduced damage.
  4. Before the final upgrade, channel from a protected angle. The final upgrade grants damage immunity while channeling, but not control immunity: enemies can still interrupt it with Knockdown.

When an enemy threatens you

Move back toward your frontline and cover. Use Lurking Terrors to discourage a dive onto you, but do not rely on it as a guaranteed escape; before its final upgrade you can still be damaged while channeling.

Nurse Harrow game plan

Timings are approximate. When teams start grouping and pushing objectives, use the next phase’s advice.

Early game

~0–10 min

Use Leech Therapy when enemies commit to trading or stand close together, then pick up the leeches when the route is safe: the pickup heals you and builds lasting regeneration and fire rate. Keep farming and dealing damage between healing clips, because damage recovers Healing Needles charges.

Mid game

~10–25 min

Move with an ally who can hold the fight near you. Use Wretched Vapours for a planned commitment, heal the affected ally to clear the stored damage, and help them reach cover before the crash.

Late game

~25+ min

Keep a clear healing angle on your damage dealer, save resources for the enemy’s commitment and collect only safe leeches. Protect your own life: dying costs part of your leech stacks.

Tips

Good to know

  • Recast Healing Needles to return to fighting when nobody needs a heal; unused syringes refund part of a charge.
  • Heal a Vapours target before the crash; a healthy-looking bar can hide stored damage.
  • Use safe leech pickups to prepare for the next fight, rather than risking stacks after the fight is already lost.
  • Upgraded needles extend non-ultimate buffs up to their maximum duration; they do not refresh ultimates.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Chasing leech pickups after the fight is already lost and losing stacks.
  • Using Wretched Vapours without being able to heal the ally through the crash.
  • Standing alone behind the fight where an enemy can isolate you.

If you’re struggling

Stay near the teammate who is fighting, heal from cover and take only safe leech pickups. Contribute damage between clips to keep your charges coming back.

One useful tip

Heal a Vapours target before the crash; a healthy-looking health bar can hide stored damage.

Matchups to watch

Heroes that change how you play Nurse Harrow. Situational adjustments, not rankings.

AbramsThreat · Lane
Watch for

His engage can reach you if you stand in melee range.

Do this

Keep distance from his engage and heal the teammate he pressures from cover. Do not walk into melee range to retrieve leeches.

HazeThreat · Mid game
Watch for

She looks for isolated targets behind the fight.

Do this

Stay near protection so she cannot isolate you. Keep a safe route back to your team instead of standing alone behind the fight.

Grey TalonThreat · Lane
Watch for

An exposed healing angle gives him repeated long-range shots.

Do this

Use cover between healing shots instead of holding the same open angle.

BebopThreat · Lane
Watch for

His hook can reach you through the same line as your ally.

Do this

Heal from an angle where the ally in front does not expose you to the same hook line. Reposition when that protection moves.
