How to play Bebop

The full version of the quick answer.

Your goal

Pull an exposed enemy towards your team so allies can attack them together. Between catches, keep using your weapon and look for damage opportunities without delivering a dangerous enemy into your teammates.

Positioning

Use corners or the side of the lane to find a clear Hook path around troopers. Stand where a pulled enemy will arrive in allied damage. Keep a retreat nearby, especially after missing Hook; you lose much of your immediate catching threat while it is unavailable.

How to fight

  1. Look for someone stepping out from cover, concentrating on your teammate, or standing apart from their team. Land Hook, attach Sticky Bomb, and add gunfire. Check what the target can do at close range before pulling them directly beside vulnerable allies.
  2. Uppercut changes the target’s position, so use it when the direction helps the catch rather than automatically punching them away from your team. Hyper Beam needs a protected firing angle with enemies remaining in view; it is not a reason to stand exposed.

When an enemy threatens you

Back towards cover and allies after a missed catch or an enemy rush. Keep shooting from a safer position instead of walking forward just because your close abilities are available.

Bebop game plan

Timings are approximate. When teams start grouping and pushing objectives, use the next phase’s advice.

Early game

~0–10 min

Collect souls while threatening Hook from an angle around troopers. After a miss, return to cover instead of staying close to a ready enemy.

Mid game

~10–25 min

Look for catches with a teammate who can supply damage. A successful catch should help you push a lane or contest an objective.

Late game

~25+ min

Pull an exposed target into allied damage, or use Hyper Beam from protection. Avoid handing a dangerous close fighter access to your vulnerable teammates.

Tips

Good to know

  • Bomb damage snapshots your spirit power at cast time — buffs must be active when you attach, not when it detonates.
  • Landing Exploding Uppercut on a hero refreshes Grapple Arm instantly, so hook-into-uppercut chains into a second grab.
  • Uppercut grants doubled gun range, faster spin-up, and +30% weapon damage for 9 seconds — your beam gun becomes a real finisher.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Missing Hook and staying exposed afterwards.
  • Pulling a dangerous close fighter into your own teammates.

If you’re struggling

Catch near teammates and let their damage finish the target instead of hunting alone.

One useful tip

Hook being ready is a threat even before you cast it. After a miss, give enemies less opportunity to rush you.
