How to play Holliday

The full version of the quick answer.

Your goal

Use accurate shots and a supported catch to make one enemy easy for your team to attack. Your goal is useful damage and positioning, not carrying someone somewhere allies cannot reach.

Positioning

Play at a useful shooting distance with cover nearby, then use side angles or height to look for a catch. Before using Spirit Lasso, choose where you want the enemy to end up. Keep your route connected to teammates instead of landing behind the whole enemy team.

How to fight

  1. Take patient Crackshot headshots when enemies pause to shoot, move predictably, or are disrupted by an ally. Powder Keg can threaten their space and add burst, but keep using your gun instead of waiting for every barrel setup to be perfect.
  2. Use Bounce Pad to gain an angle or change position, and Spirit Lasso when teammates can exploit the catch. Moving during the lasso is optional: a stationary target near your team may be easier to finish than one you bounce away with.

When an enemy threatens you

Use movement to return towards cover and allies. Avoid spending Bounce Pad solely to continue a low-value chase if it leaves you unable to escape a closer enemy.

Holliday game plan

Timings are approximate. When teams start grouping and pushing objectives, use the next phase’s advice.

Early game

~0–10 min

Collect souls and take patient Crackshot opportunities. Use barrels without walking into unnecessary close danger just to force the combination.

Mid game

~10–25 min

Look for side approaches near allies and plan a lasso destination. Keep up income instead of travelling constantly for unsupported catches.

Late game

~25+ min

Catch an enemy where allies can keep attacking. Use movement during the lasso only if it improves the position rather than spoiling allied aim.

Tips

Good to know

  • Melee your own Powder Keg to knock it airborne into enemies for impact damage plus stacking burns.
  • Bounce pads extend Spirit Lasso's range — cast it mid-launch to grab targets you couldn't reach.
  • Activating Warp Stone during Spirit Lasso flings the victim much farther than the pull alone.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Dragging a target away from your team’s shots.
  • Using movement carelessly when an enemy can rush you.

If you’re struggling

Use ranged shots and a supported catch rather than spending every movement tool on a risky solo play.

One useful tip

A Bounce Pad during a lasso is an option, not a requirement; moving the target can make allied shots harder.

Matchups to watch

AbramsThreat · Lane
Watch for

A direct close approach and wall pin can punish a spent movement tool.

Do this

Keep a covered retreat and avoid using Bounce Pad purely for damage while his approach remains ready.

VindictaOpportunity · Teamfights
Watch for

An exposed ranged position can become a valuable displacement target.

Do this

Approach from a safe side and choose a lasso destination your team can shoot, rather than chasing into her protection.

PocketThreat · Teamfights
Watch for

Defensive evasion can make your intended catch window unreliable.

Do this

Watch which escape tool has been used and avoid spending all movement to chase a target still holding a safe exit.
