How to play Deadman Danny

The full version of the quick answer.

Your goal

Set up enemies for charged shots, then use flight to create a useful attack or catch. Your goal is a controlled aerial approach with a planned landing, rather than diving whenever the jetpack is available.

Positioning

Begin from cover beside or behind teammates. Before flying over a wall, check where enemies are and where you can land without being surrounded. Height creates a new attack angle, but also exposes you to guns and control from several directions.

How to fight

  1. Place Strix Salvo along a target’s likely movement and follow a mark with a charged shot. Start by practising this ground-based exchange. You can contribute useful damage without combining every attack with an aggressive dive into the enemy team.
  2. Watch your jetpack heat before extending flight. Jettison Fuel can help manage heat while damaging an enemy, but it does not replace a safe landing plan. Use Close the Deal on a reachable target when allies can benefit from the resulting position.

When an enemy threatens you

Land somewhere defensible before heat makes the choice for you. A missed overheat dive can stun you, and health spent on your own attacks still leaves you vulnerable to enemy damage.

Deadman Danny game plan

Timings are approximate. When teams start grouping and pushing objectives, use the next phase’s advice.

Early game

~0–10 min

Collect souls and practise Strix Salvo marks into charged shots from cover. Learn the flight heat and landing controls before combining them with aggression.

Mid game

~10–25 min

Find an aerial angle near a fight your teammates can join. Choose a safe landing before flying over a wall or starting a catch.

Late game

~25+ min

Attack exposed enemies with allied help and watch your health. Leave yourself a controlled landing rather than extending flight into a forced overheat dive.

Tips

Good to know

  • Firing a charged shot at your feet with an enemy in the blast removes self-damage but keeps the rocket-jump knockback.
  • Jettison Fuel's backblast can apply a mark with the right upgrade, feeding your whole combo.
  • The ult moves to the target regardless of distance — but walls and Frozen Shelter stop it cold.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Overheating into an empty or heavily defended landing.
  • Losing health through self-damage before enemies attack back.

If you’re struggling

Use marked shots from cover and skip risky dives while you rebuild health and income.

One useful tip

An overheat dive that hits no hero can stun you. Do not learn the heat limit by diving into a full team.

McGinnisOpportunity · Teamfights
Watch for

A prepared firing position may be less protected from an unusual approach.

Do this

Choose an aerial side angle with a safe landing and allied follow-up; do not dive into the whole setup alone.

DynamoThreat · Teamfights
Watch for

Landing near ready group control can remove your chance to leave.

Do this

Track Dynamo before choosing the landing; use marked shots from cover if he is protecting the destination.

VindictaThreat · Teamfights
Watch for

Your flight can expose you to a ranged gunner already watching above the fight.

Do this

Use structures to break the sightline and plan a controlled landing instead of hovering through her firing angle.
