The jungle is full of free-looking souls, which is exactly how players end up disappearing for two minutes while their Guardian gets demolished. Good jungle farming is not about living in the camps. It's about taking them between better jobs.
Quick answer: Clear lane waves first, use nearby Haunt camps during your downtime, and return before the next important wave or objective. Small camps are available earlier; medium and large camps become relevant as the match progresses. A safe route you finish beats a greedy route that gets you killed.

When should you jungle in Deadlock?
The best time is when your current lane is already handled. If you push a wave and the enemy has to clear it, you may have enough room for a nearby camp. If a fresh wave is about to reach you and the enemy could take your Guardian, jungle farming is probably the wrong priority.
Ask three questions before entering: Can I clear this quickly? Can I return for the wave? Can I survive if an enemy appears? If one answer is no, take a shorter route.
Three routes that make sense
Secure your wave, clear a nearby small camp or convenient breakables, then return. This is the bread-and-butter route for staying efficient without vanishing from lane.
Push a wave, check enemy locations, and use the extra space to clear a nearby camp or contest an exposed neutral area with your teammate. Don't go deeper than your escape route allows. Converting wave pressure into enemy jungle access is useful only when you can leave again.
Catch waves on safer ground, then take nearby resources on your side when the enemy shows elsewhere. Avoid blind invasions. If your usual camp isn't safe, a wave and a few breakables may be the better recovery plan.

What are Haunts?
Haunts are Deadlock's neutral jungle creatures. Small, medium and large camps differ in difficulty and reward. Their respawn countdown begins when the relevant camp is fully cleared. Leaving one creature alive means you haven't finished the job.
Some jungle locations are mixed with Sinner's Sacrifice machines. For those hybrid camps, clearing all required pieces matters for the respawn.
Jungle farming and team objectives
Don't start a difficult large camp just before your team needs six players at an objective. Coordinate who takes nearby souls, and consider leaving a better farming route to a teammate who needs their next purchase more urgently.
Similarly, don't chase a camp across the map while your team has already created an opening to take a structure. The soul reward may be nice; the objective can win the next stage of the game.
Common mistakes
- Skipping an entire wave to clear a camp that will still be there later.
- Clearing jungle with no stamina or escape route available.
- Leaving a camp half-cleared and assuming its respawn timer started.
- Competing with a teammate for the same resource when both could farm separately.
- Carrying a large pool of unsecured souls into an unnecessary fight.
